RFID tags, sometimes called transponders, attach to and identify a specific product or the pallet/tray where the product is resting. Three types of tags are available for specific applications. The first type includes those for mounting on any nonmetal surface or in air. The second type will mount directly to a metal surface. They are perfect for mounting to a metal tray or carrier. The third type has been designed specifically for machine tool applications and these can be mounted flush in metal. A hole is drilled and the tag is epoxied into the surface.
The following tables are divided according to the approximate housing diameter of the tag and then by tag mounting type as listed above. Specialty tags are also available. These are used for special applications because of their shape or have very high temperature rating for certain industrial applications.
